Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation
of national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of preparing
International Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical
committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical
committee has been established has the right to be represented on that
committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in
liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. IS0 collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical
standardization.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated
to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an International Standard
requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.

Standard SIST ISO 10185, Tobak in tobačni proizvodi - Slovar, druga izdaja, 1999, ima status
slovenskega standarda in je enakovreden mednarodnemu standardu ISO 10185, Tobacco and
tobacco products - Vocabulary, first edition, 1993-06-15.
NACIONALNI PREDGOVOR
Mednarodni standard ISO 10185:1993 je pripravil tehnični odbor Mednarodne organizacije za
standardizacijo ISO/TC 126 Tobak in tobačni proizvodi. Slovenski standard SIST ISO 10185:1999,
druga izdaja, je prevod angleškega in francoskega besedila mednarodnega standarda
izvirni mednarodni standard. Slovensko izdajo standarda je pripravil tehnični odbor USM/TC TIT Tobak
in tobačni proizvodi.
Ta slovenski standard je dne 1999-01-04 odobril direktor USM.

Namen standarda
Mednarodni standard navaja izraze in definicije, ki se uporabljajo v proizvodnji, predelavi in pri
preskušanju tobaka in tobačnih proizvodov.
V prvem poglavju so zbrane vse definicije iz mednarodnih standardov o tobaku in tobačnih proizvodih.
Opomba: V nekaterih primerih je bilo besedilo definicij uredniško popravljeno.
Drugo poglavje zajema izraze in definicije, ki veljajo posebej za orientalski tobak.
V dodatku A je seznam (brez definicij) ustreznih angleških in francoskih izrazov, ki se nanašajo na:
