The appliances covered by this document are intended to be used in a domestic dwelling.
It is intended to use this document with EN 30-1-1:2021+A1:2023, on which the requirements and methods of test for appliances having one or more burners with an automatic burner control system are based. In particular this document is intended to be used in conjunction with EN 30-1-1:2021+A1:2023 and, where appropriate, EN 30-1-2:2023+A1:2024 and EN 30-1-3:2003+A1:2006.
This document also applies to gas cooking appliances incorporating electrical heating elements (e.g. gaselectric cooking appliances).
This document does not apply to:
— outdoor appliances;
— appliances connected to a combustion products evacuation duct;
— appliances having a pyrolytic gas oven;
— appliances having an uncovered burner or a non-enclosed covered burner that utilizes a fan for the supply of its combustion air;
— appliances equipped with air-gas ratio controls;

This European Standard includes requirements covering the electrical safety of equipment incorporated in the appliance that is associated with the use of gas. It does not include requirements covering the electrical safety of electrically heated component parts of their associated equipment ).
This European Standard does not apply to:

IEC 60335-2-23:2026 deals with the safety of electric appliances for the care of the hair of persons or animals and similar appliances, intended for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V including direct current (DC) supplied appliances and battery-operated appliances.
Examples of appliances that are within the scope of this standard are:
- curling combs;
- curling irons;
- hairdryers;
- hair straighteners;
- hand dryers;
- heaters for detachable curlers;
- permanent-wave appliances.
Appliances covered by this standard can incorporate steam-producing or spray-producing devices. Hand dryers can have a feature to redirect the air so that it can be used to dry the face or hair. Appliances not intended for normal household use but that nevertheless can be a source of danger to the public, such as appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms, are within the scope of this standard. Examples are appliances for use in hairdressing salons.
This standard deals with the reasonably foreseeable hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons. However, in general, it does not take into account:
- persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capabilities; or lack of experience and knowledge prevents them from using the appliance safely without supervision or instruction;
- children playing with the appliance.
Attention is drawn to the fact that
- it is recognized that persons having very extensive and complex disabilities can have needs beyond the level addressed in this standard.

IEC 63437:2025 specifies the essential characteristics of off grid and unreliable grid refrigerating appliances for domestic and similar use or light commercial use, cooled by internal natural or forced air convection. It defines input voltage supply signals for appliances designed for unreliable grid and off grid conditions.
An unreliable grid condition can be the result of disturbances on the electricity supply, such as power outages, or issues with power quality, such as voltage spikes and surges, that could cause performance challenges to refrigerating appliances. f) Update of the weight of different load items and the specified ranges to anneal the requirements in the document to the actual weight of the items.
g) Introduction of an updated method to assess low power modes providing a step-by-step measurement description and including new modes, e.g. network standby which are of increased importance for dishwasher offering additional services via internet connection. Additionally, reactions to different interactions with the appliance can be assessed in a better way and learnings of Round Robin Test are included.
h) Inclusion of additional method for dishwasher testing which allows the assessment of variations of dishwasher units from one model.
i) New requirements for the loading and handling instructions for tests institutes.
j) Implementation of testing methodology for multi-compartment dishwashers.
k) Improvement of ballast soil preparation process in Annex V.

IEC 60335-2-13:2021 deals with the safety of electric deep fat fryers having a recommended maximum quantity of oil not exceeding 5 l, frying pans, woks and other appliances in which oil is used for cooking, and intended for household use and similar use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. Appliances intended for normal household and similar use and that may also be used by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms are within the scope of this standard. This document defines methodologies to measure the energy consumption and productivity of coffee machines based on their characteristics. This document applies to professional and commercial coffee machines used, for example, in kitchens and food preparation areas in restaurants, canteens, hotels, coffee shops, breakfast rooms. This document does not apply to: - household appliances; - machines that use only coffee pods or coffee capsules; - machines powered by non-electrical energy (i.e. gas); - vending machines for hot beverages; - milk refrigerators integrated or not into traditional machines; - accessory equipment provided together with the machine (e.g. cup warmer, milk refrigerator) physically separated from the machine.
