for enquiry.
Deadline for CENELEC: 2025-11-14.

It has been drawn up by CLC/TC 61.

If this draft becomes an amendment, CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.

This draft amendment was established by CENELEC in three official versions (English, French, German).
A version in any other language made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to
the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre has the same status as the official versions.

19 This document (EN IEC 60335-1:2023/prAB:2025) has been prepared by CLC/TC 61 “Safety of household

22 *Justification for no dow:
23 EN 60335-1:2012 and its amendments remain valid until all the Parts 2 which are used in conjunction with it
24 have been withdrawn. No date of withdrawal (DOW) has been given pending the updating of all Parts 2 to
25 align with this EN IEC 60335-1:2023/prAB:2025. The applicable date of withdrawal is given in each Part 2. It
26 is intended the DOW for this Part 1 will be fixed once all the Parts 2 have been updated.
27 EN IEC 60335-1:2023/prAB:2025 includes the following significant technical changes with respect to
28 EN IEC 60335-1:2023 :
29 — New test requirements for radio function products;
30 — New requirements for mains voltage selector switch;
31 — Removal of modification of test probe B of IEC 61032 in Clause 20.2;
32 — New requirements for resistors and capacitors used for protective impedance;
33 — Added usage of halogen-free cable;
34 — Modification of requirements related to EMF in products with radio function.
35 This document is read in conjunction with EN IEC 60335-1:2023 .
36 The numbering system for European clauses, subclauses, notes, tables, figures and annexes that are
37 additional to those in the IEC standard are prefixed with the letter “Z”.
38 This document has been prepared under a standardization request addressed to CENELEC by the European
39 Commission. The Standing Committee of the EFTA State subsequently approves these requests for its
40 Member States.
41 For the relationship with EU legislation, see informative Annexes ZZA, ZZB and ZZC, which are an integral
42 part of this document.

44 consultant. The annexes will be removed before the publication because the AM12 will not be offered for
45 citation in the OJ up to all the Parts 2 have been updated with this version of Part 1. Consequently, lines 50-
46 51 will be removed before the publication

60 NOTE Z101 For the scope of this document, the term radio appliance is used with the same meaning of radio
61 equipment as defined in Directive 2014/53/EU.

65 foreseeable…” with the following:
66 “This standard deals with the reasonably foreseeable hazards of intended use presented by appliances that
67 are encountered by all persons and domestic animals when this is not in contradiction with the intended or
68 reasonably foreseeable use of the appliance.”
