The method for the determination of the total organic carbon is not applicable to products containing urea-formaldehyde polymers or urea as long as there is no method available to assess carbon in urea-formaldehyde polymers or urea. The carbon contained in these compounds is not considered organic [1].
The scope of the standards referenced in this document specifies in which cases the method is also applicable to fertilizing product blends.
Organische und organisch-mineralische Düngemittel - Bestimmung spezifischer Parameter
Dieses Dokument legt Verweisungen auf Verfahren zur Bestimmung der folgenden Parameter in organischen und organisch-mineralischen Düngemitteln fest.
Bestimmung des Gehalts an gesamtem organischem Kohlenstoff;
Bestimmung des Trockenmassegehalts.
Das Verfahren für die Bestimmung des Gehalts an gesamtem organischem Kohlenstoff ist nicht anwendbar auf Produkte, die Harnstoff-Formaldehyd-Polymere oder Harnstoff enthalten, solange kein Verfahren zur Beurteilung von Kohlenstoff in Harnstoff-Formaldehyd-Polymeren oder Harnstoff zur Verfügung steht. Der in diesen Verbindungen enthaltene Kohlenstoff wird nicht als organisch betrachtet [1].
Im Abschnitt „Anwendungsbereich“ der jeweiligen Normen, auf die in diesem Dokument verwiesen wird, ist festgelegt, in welchen Fällen das Verfahren auch auf Düngeproduktmischungen anwendbar ist.

La méthode de détermination du carbone organique total n’est pas applicable aux produits contenant des polymères urée-formaldéhyde ou de l’urée tant qu’il n’existe pas de méthode disponible pour évaluer la teneur en carbone dans les polymères urée-formaldéhyde ou l’urée. Le carbone contenu dans ces composés n’est pas considéré comme organique [1].
