Railway applications - Gauges - Part 2: Rolling stock gauge
This document is applicable to the authorities involved in all types of railway operation.
This European Standard is applicable to new vehicle designs, to modifications and to the checking of the gauge for vehicles already in use.
The application of the rules of this European Standard makes it possible to determine the maximum dimensions of vehicles related to the structures.
This European Standard contains:
- the associated rules for all the gauges for rolling stock;
- the requirements for composing the technical gauge report to submit to the Acceptance Authority in order to confirm vehicle conformity to this standard;
- the requirements for maintaining the vehicle characteristics influencing gauging throughout its operational life.

Diese Europäische Norm ist von allen anzuwenden, die mit dem Schienenverkehr jeglicher Art befasst sind.
Diese Europäische Norm gilt für die Planung neuer und modernisierter Fahrzeuge sowie für die Überprüfung der Begrenzungslinie bereits existierender Fahrzeuge.
Durch Anwendung der Regeln dieser Europäischen Norm können die Grenzwerte für die Abmessungen der Fahrzeuge so festgelegt werden, dass der Lichtraum eingehalten wird.
Diese Europäische Norm beinhaltet:
- die Fahrzeuge betreffenden zugehörigen Regeln zu den hier aufgeführten Bezugslinien (Begrenzungslinien);
- Vorschriften für die Zusammenstellung der technischen Unterlagen zu den Begrenzungslinien, die den Behörden zu Prüfungszwecken für Fahrzeuge und zur Beurteilung der Übereinstimmung mit der vorliegenden Norm zu übergeben sind;
- Vorschriften für die Erhaltung der Fahrzeugmerkmale, die während der gesamten betrieblichen Lebensdauer des Fahrzeugs Einfluss auf die Begrenzungslinie haben.

Ce document s’applique aux Autorités concernées par tous types d’activités ferroviaires.
La présente Norme Européenne est applicable à la conception de véhicules neufs, réaménagés et à la vérification du gabarit de véhicules existants.
L’application des règles de la présente Norme Européenne rend possible de déterminer la limite des dimensions des véhicules permettant de respecter l’encombrement des obstacles.
La présente Norme Européenne contient :
- les règles associées concernant les véhicules, pour tous les gabarits ;
- les prescriptions pour constituer le dossier technique domaine gabarit à soumettre à l’Autorité pour le contrôle de la conception d’un véhicule et pour l’évaluation de sa conformité à la présente norme ;
- les prescriptions pour le maintient des caractéristiques du véhicule qui ont influence sur le gabarit, pour toute la vie opérationnelle du véhicule.

Ta evropski standard se uporablja za izdelavo novih vozil ter spremembe in preverjanje profilov vozil, ki so že v uporabi. Uporaba pravil iz tega evropskega standarda omogoča, da se ugotovijo največje dimenzije vozil glede na strukture. Ta evropski standard vključuje:
– ustrezna pravila za vse profile tirnih vozil;
– zahteve za sestavljanje tehničnega poročila o profilih, ki se predloži organu za sprejemljivost, ki potrdi skladnost vozila s tem standardom;
