Overview
SIST EN 300 207-2 V1.2.4:2003 outlines the Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma specification for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Diversion Supplementary Services using the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1) protocol. Developed by the Slovenski inštitut za standardizacijo (SIST), this standard is harmonized with EN 300 207-2 (ETSI) and specifically addresses requirements for protocol conformance in ISDN stage three supplementary service implementations.
A PICS proforma is a standardized form that suppliers complete to declare which protocol capabilities and options have been implemented within an ISDN system. The document ensures interoperability and conformance, supporting both suppliers and network operators in managing and verifying ISDN diversion services such as Call Forwarding, Call Deflection, and Selective Call Forwarding.
Key Topics
PICS Proforma Definition
The PICS proforma serves as a structured template for protocol implementers to declare compliance with the relevant parts of the DSS1 protocol for ISDN diversion supplementary services.Scope of PICS
This standard applies to the pan-European ISDN at the T or coincident S and T reference points, as defined in ITU-T Rec. I.411, for services like Call Forwarding Busy (CFB), No Reply (CFNR), Unconditional (CFU), Call Deflection (CD), and various Selective Call Forwarding options.Document Structure
The PICS proforma includes sections on:- Implementation identification (IUT, SUT, supplier/client details)
- Major and subsidiary protocol capabilities
- Supported protocol data units and parameters
- Call states, timers, and protocol data unit parameters
- Requirements for both User and Network implementations
Conformance Assessment
Suppliers must provide detailed information and complete the PICS proforma to demonstrate protocol compliance. The filled PICS helps guide system validation, conformance testing, and static conformance reviews, focusing on which mandatory and optional features are supported.
Applications
SIST EN 300 207-2 V1.2.4:2003 is essential for:
ISDN Equipment Manufacturers
Confirms interoperability and protocol compliance in products offering ISDN diversion supplementary services.Telecommunications Network Operators
Enables accurate evaluation of new equipment or solutions claiming compliance with EN 300 207-1 for ISDN supplementary service protocols.System Integrators and Test Laboratories
Utilized for planning, executing, and documenting conformance tests for ISDN services, in line with established frameworks such as ISO/IEC 9646 and related EN and ETS standards.Procurement and QA Processes
Used as part of procurement and quality assessment processes by stipulating that suppliers submit a completed PICS for offered ISDN equipment or software.
By enforcing consistent documentation and audit procedures, the PICS proforma in this standard supports smoother network integration and consistent end-user experiences in ISDN environments.
