Foreword
This European Standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 183 "Waste Management", the secretariat of which is held
by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by August 2002, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by
August 2002.
The annexes A and B are normative.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following

1 Scope
This European Standard specifies the requirements for above-ground containers, mechanically lifted and emptied,
used for the selective collection of solid non-hazardous waste, with capacities from 80 l to 5 000 l.
The standard specifies the general characteristics of such containers and their accessories, the test methods and
the safety requirements.
