Metode za preskušanje neelektričnih lastnosti nizkonapetostnih energetskih kablov - Dopolnilo A1
EN 50396 vsebuje metode za preskušanje neelektričnih lastnosti, potrebne za preskušanje harmoniziranih nizkonapetostnih energetskih kablov, predvsem tistih z nazivno napetostjo do vključno 450/750 V.
OPOMBA 1: Opis izvora teh preskusnih metod in ozadje EN sta podana v uvodu in dodatku A.

Overview
EN 50396:2005/A1:2011 is a CENELEC amendment that defines non-electrical test methods applicable to low-voltage energy cables. Amendment A1 was approved on 2011-03-14 and updates the original EN 50396:2005. The document is intended as a supporting European standard for assessing physical and material characteristics of cables where electrical test methods are not applicable.
The standard has been managed by CENELEC TC 20 (Electric cables). Administrative milestones recorded in the amendment include the latest implementation date (dop) of 2012-03-14 and withdrawal date for conflicting national standards (dow) of 2014-03-14. Subsequent administrative notes indicate removal of the link to the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and conversion of legacy CLC documentation in 2021 by DCLab NISOSTS.
Key Topics
- Scope and purpose: Non-electrical methods for assessing construction, materials and mechanical properties of low-voltage energy cables.
- Amendment details: A1 introduces editorial and clause-level changes (for example, corrections in clause references and table notes) and updates bibliography entries.
- Administrative status: Kept as a supporting standard following removal of its LVD link and noted for withdrawal from the OJEU list; CENELEC national members must implement the amendment as a national standard without alteration.
- Bibliography updates: The amendment deletes certain referenced series (EN 50266, EN 50267, EN 50268) related to fire performance, gases evolved during combustion and smoke density measurement, clarifying the non-electrical focus.
Applications
This standard is useful for stakeholders involved in cable design, manufacture, testing and procurement who require consistent non-electrical assessment methods. Typical practical uses include:
- Quality assessment of materials and construction independent of electrical performance
- Mechanical and environmental checks such as tensile, elongation or aging assessments performed using non-electrical techniques
- Documentation and compliance where manufacturers and test laboratories need harmonized test descriptions to support conformity assessments and product records
Related Standards
- EN 50396:2005 (original edition) - baseline for the amendment
- EN series referenced or removed in the amendment: EN 50266, EN 50267, EN 50268 (fire-related cable test series)
- Other CENELEC cable standards and national implementations maintained by CENELEC members
This summary highlights the practical value of EN 50396:2005/A1:2011 as a harmonized reference for non-electrical cable testing. For full technical requirements, test procedures and official national status consult the published amendment text and the relevant CENELEC national committee.
