Foreword
The text of the International Standard IEC 60269-3-1:2004, prepared by SC 32B, Low-voltage
fuses, of IEC TC 32, Fuses, together with the common modifications prepared by the CENELEC
Reporting Secretariat SR 32B, was submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure and was
approved by CENELEC as HD 60269-3-1 on 2004-11-01.
This Harmonization Document supersedes HD 630.3.1 S3:2002.
It includes the following significant technical change:
- introduction of preferred rated currents 3 A and 13 A in section IV (BS plugtop fuse system).
This Harmonization Document is to be read in conjunction with EN 60269-1 and EN 60269-3.
The following dates were fixed:
- latest date by which the existence of the HD
has to be announced at national level (doa) 2005-05-01
- latest date by which the HD has to be implemented
at national level by publication of a harmonized
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2005-11-01
- latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the HD have to be withdrawn (dow) 2007-11-01
Annex ZA has been added by CENELEC.

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC
Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested
in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-

International Standard IEC 60269-3-1 has been prepared by subcommittee 32B: Low-voltage
fuses, of IEC technical committee 32: Fuses.
This second edition of IEC 60269-3-1 cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1994,
amendment 1 (1995) and amendment 2 (2001) and constitutes a major revision.
The document 32B/448/FDIS, circulated to the National Committees as amendment 3, led to
the publication of the new edition.

This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous
edition:
• introduction of push-in gauge-rings in addition to screw-in gauge-rings in section I (D type
fuse-system);
• addition of a special test for cable overload protection in the informative annex A of
section I (D type fuse-system);
• introduction of preferred rated currents 3 A and 13 A in section IV (BS plugtop fuse
system).
